Visits and Residentials

Here at South Ossett we try to provide our children with a rich diet of experiential learning. This type of learning we consider crucial if children are to have concrete experiences in which to apply their learning in a real life context.  As part of this we offer regular visits both within and outside the local  community. Our visits are linked closely to the South Ossett curriculum. We have visited local religious venues and our children have the opportunity to visit the places of worship of other religions, these include the Synagogue and Mosque.

Links are made to visits and project planning and these have included a visit to Reptilia, Lotherton Hall, Sandal Castle  and Ossett Town Centre. Some of the visits are related to activities linked to Education Ossett Community Trust. These include bi-annual Choral events at Wakefield Cathedral and the annual local Book Awards. These give the Children opportunities to mix with peers from other settings.

In Year Two where possible the children are offered the opportunity to go on a two night residential to Nell Bank (a residential centre)with their classmates and school staff. We always have a fantastic time, it is a wonderful learning experience for children and staff.
